What is the current release date for a beta/completed MKS?
At present there is no planned date for release. Content is constantly
being added, and the release will depend on a decent completion of work
from all areas, particularly the coding elements. When the beta is
released it will be available to the team and Pit Crew first, with the
possibility of being given to some regular community members who have
shown themselves active, helpful and upstanding members of the
community.
Where can I download Mario Kart Source?
It
will be released in the download section. It is important to note that
the Mod will be unavailable to download until the Mod has reached Beta
status which is indicated on the front page http://www.mariokartsource.com by a percentage.
When will the next news release be?
We post news based on the content generated by the Dev Team. Since our
Dev Team members work in their free time, progress comes and goes.
Short answer, when there is stuff to post.
I saw the website and it says/has been stuck at [Insert percentagehere]%. Is this accurate?
In terms of waiting for a release at the time of the last news posting,
yes. In terms of being accurate to the 'now', we are of course making
constant progess in various areas and confining each to a percentage on
a daily basis is unfeasable. A lack of change for extended periods of
time doesn't mean everyone on the team is doing nothing, far from it.
Which game modes will be in MKS?
The first versions will only include Battle mode. Race mode will come later. More will possibly be added like team modes or
time trials, however at the present the focus of the mod is to complete
these particular modes before integrating others.
What are the system requirements for running MKS?
You will have to own a Source title like HL2:DM or CSS in order to play
the game. Any that give access to the SDK base. By and large, if you
can run HL2 then the mod should run on the computer with no trouble. If
you have very low specs, playability will probably vary from level to
level. Note that you can't play MKS with the HL²DM free game, gave to ATI or Nvidia graphic cards.
Will [Insert character here] be a character in MKS?
The first versions won't include all characters, but only a few part. Here is the latest confirmed characters (30):

Crew will be aware of others that are in the works, at various stages
of completion. All suggestions made for additional characters will be
considered, however more outlandish non-mario characters will always be
less likely to be accepted by the team than those who are a part of the
mario universe and games.
What is Pit Crew, what are the benefits and how do I become a part of it?
Pit Crew are the kind people who have donated money towards the mod,
which are spent on running costs such as for the continuation of the
website and forums. These people are thanked for their generosity by
being given certain informations ahead of time that have yet to be
released. To become part of the pit crew you should contact KillerMapper via private message on the forums after donation, after registering on the forums.
Who exactly is on the Dev Team?
The list of developers changes as time progresses, and some members of the team have come and gone. Our team page has a list of all our current and former members.
I want to help. Where do I go? Who do I talk to in order to join?
First, check out the Open Positions page to see what positions are open
on the team. Next, come visit us on the forums and post some of your
work for the Dev team to see.
I want to make MKS maps. Are there textures/props available I can use?
As a matter a fact there is. If you go to the Downloads section you can
download a kart prop that will show you how big the kart is, so that
you can scale your maps accordingly. We're working on putting together
a texture pack, but there isn't one available at the moment.
When MKS is released, will you guys release a .fgd so I can build maps?
We are planning on releasing a .fgd that includes all the necessary props (item boxes, entities) needed to make MKS maps.
