We don't have enough time and people to keep the project alive, not counting to big issues with the game engine to make a good kart game. Mario Kart Source is now closed. Since the sources are free, someone can try to restart the project. It's all up to you. You can use our files for another project too, just put the MKS Team in your credits, that would be nice ;) Mario Kart Source was a great thing for all of us. Some of us spent more than 7 years trying to make this project a reality. We did some nice work, not enough sadly, but we had some nice moments, and meeting people from all over the world was something great ! Some will say that it's a shame, other will tel us the haha we told us you will fail ! , we don't care about that, we learned lot of things and have fun working on this project :) It's now time to end this adventure. You don't necessarily have to be any good at it to enjoy the experience. We tend to both love and hate Mario Kart though. And for good reason. Love - Shouting our frustrations at the screen is extremely therapeutic. Especially when you're suddenly attacked by a mean racer behind you, or you forget the track turns left and fall down the pit, only to be towed back into last place. I'm willing to wager people shout at Mario Kart more than they play it. - It's less solitary than say, Angry Birds or partypoker (http://sk.partypoker.com/). You can play in a big group, either against your friends or along side them in the team version. Inviting everyone round the house to play is a legitimate option for a night in. - The character variations are awesome. I'll admit I only tend to play as Yoshi, but at least I have the choice, should I decide to change. Hate - You're in first place for three seconds and suddenly the blue shell comes out of nowhere. It hasn't attacked anyone for the entire race. You get to the front and BAM! you're sent off the grid. You know the computer does it on purpose and you hate it. - When you keep getting bananas or one of the other useless items to arm yourself with. Or when you're at the back and all you want is that blooming bullet to speed you along, and you get a shell you can't throw at anyone, because they are miles ahead. - When you're playing Mario Kart online and the same person keeps voting on the same boring level over and over again.
